1. General Information

1.1 Empowering Me is an online platform that provides tutoring services, downloadable educational resources, and career guidance tools for students, parents, and educators.
1.2 These Terms and Conditions apply to all users, including students, parents, tutors, and other visitors to the platform.
1.3 By using our services, you confirm that you are over the age of 18 or have parental/guardian consent to use the platform if under 18.

2. Registration and Account Use

2.1 Users must register an account to access certain features, such as booking tutoring sessions or downloading resources.
2.2 Parents or guardians must create accounts on behalf of users under the age of 16.
2.3 Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login information and must not share their credentials with others.
2.4 Empowering Me reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms and Conditions.

3. Services

3.1 Tutoring Sessions:
  • Tutoring sessions are conducted via third-party video conferencing software (e.g., Zoom) integrated into the platform.
  • Users agree to attend sessions punctually and behave respectfully during all interactions.
  • Sessions may be recorded for safeguarding purposes with prior consent obtained during registration.
3.2 Downloadable Resources:
  • Resources such as exam papers and study guides are provided for personal, non-commercial use only.
  • Users must not share, redistribute, or resell these materials without permission.
3.3 Career Guidance and Tools:
  • Tools such as career quizzes and planning resources are provided for informational purposes and should not be considered professional advice.

4. Safeguarding and Child Protection

4.1 Empowering Me is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all users, particularly those under 18.
4.2 All tutors and staff undergo Garda vetting and safeguarding training.
4.3 Sessions are monitored using AI-powered tools to detect inappropriate behaviour, and recordings are securely stored for up to 30 days.
4.4 Users must report any safeguarding concerns through the “Report Session” feature or by contacting our Designated Liaison Person (DLP).

5. Parental Consent

5.1 Parents or guardians of users under 16 must provide verifiable consent during registration.
5.2 Parents have access to session recordings, transcripts, and safeguarding reports upon request.

6. User Conduct

6.1 Users must behave respectfully during tutoring sessions, avoiding inappropriate language, harassment, or disruptive behaviour.
6.2 Empowering Me reserves the right to terminate services for users who breach conduct expectations or pose safeguarding concerns.

7. Payments and Refunds

7.1 Payments for tutoring sessions, resources, or subscriptions must be made in advance via the platform.
7.2 Refunds are only provided in cases of technical failure or cancellation by the tutor.
7.3 Subscriptions or bookings can be cancelled at any time, but refunds will not be issued for bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled booking.

8. Data Protection and Privacy

8.1 Empowering Me complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to ensure the protection of personal data.
8.2 Session recordings and transcripts are securely stored and accessed only by authorised personnel for safeguarding purposes.
8.3 Users have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 All content on the Empowering Me platform, including resources, tools, and website design, is protected by copyright law.
9.2 Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive licence to use resources for personal, educational purposes only.
9.3 Users must not copy, modify, or distribute platform content without explicit written permission.

10. Limitation of Liability

10.1 Empowering Me is not liable for:
  • Any interruptions, delays, or errors caused by third-party software or services.
  • The outcomes of tutoring sessions, including exam results or academic performance.

10.2 Users access and use the platform at their own risk.

11. Termination of Services

11.1 Empowering Me reserves the right to suspend or terminate user accounts for breaches of these Terms and Conditions.
11.2 Users may terminate their accounts at any time by contacting customer support.

12. Reporting and Complaints

12.1 Users can report issues, including safeguarding concerns, via the “Report Session” button or by contacting our DLP.
12.2 Complaints regarding platform services can be submitted via email to [Insert Support Email Address].

13. Changes to Terms and Conditions

13.1 Empowering Me reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions periodically.
13.2 Users will be notified of significant changes, and continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
